This pan not only looks cool but has a few functions that set it apart. For years customers have been struggling with the factory heat exchangers on their trucks failing and causing transmission fluid and coolant to mix. In return it destroys their transmission.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EUnfortunately there are absolutely No alternatives to this heat exchanger failing other then bypassing it with either one of our transmission or heater hose kits, which is fine Only if you live where it\u0027s warm year round or you don\u0027t drive the truck when it\u0027s cold.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe reason you don\u0027t want to bypass it when it\u0027s cold is because your transmission will not get up to operating temperature until you drive it and work the truck to get it to build heat. The issue with that is that your still driving the truck when the fluid is extremely cold and way below operating temperature.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EOn top of that, once you get on the highway or take a long drive, your trans temp will plummet and not stay near operating temp causing damage to the transmission. When transmission fluid isn\u0027t at the proper temperature it can cause all kinds of odd shifting issues in your transmission, the fluid breaks down faster and most importantly it cannot properly lubricate the parts inside of your transmission if it\u0027s too cold.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EDriving with cold fluid has negative long term effects on your transmission. We have spent dozens of hours studying, designing and testing our new pan and methods of exchanging heat. We have made our own version of the factory heat exchanger, that is also deep transmission pan but it \u003Cstrong\u003EWill Not Fail\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003ETo make it simple, our pan has a billet bottom that allows coolant to flow through the bottom of the pan and help warm the transmission fluid in cold climates. We tested this using the same truck with the same outside temperature. Below are the results we gathered with our new pan VS a regular transmission pan.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAs you can see, our pan warmed up the transmission fluid much faster then without our pan. After driving with our new pan on the highway at 70 MPH in 30 (F) weather, our pan maintained a trans temp of between 155-160 (F) driving normal in over drive with the torque converter locked.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EWithout our pan the temps would\u0027ve been way below the safe zone closer to 100 (F). So not only can our pan get your transmission fluid temperature up closer to operating temperature before you go to drive it, in the cold weather on the highway it kept the transmission fluid temperature from dropping down very low to where you could start to cause damage to the transmission internally.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EUpon putting the truck under load, burnouts, 4x4 launches, pulls to 120 MPH+ the trans temp stayed below 190 (F) with our remote cooler fan OFF the whole time. After we got it that hot we drove it normal and the transmission temperature quickly dropped back down.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThe testing was done with our 1000+ HP compound turbo 5.9 Cummins.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EThis pan will be sold by its self with new bolts. You will need to run two coolant hoses to the bottom of the pan. We will have a kit for those shortly if you would like, if not all you need to do is run two 6AN or equivalent hoses to the pan in a way that the coolant will circulate constantly through the bottom of the pan.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EFor summer time driving if you feel you don\u0027t need the additional warming you can simply jump the two coolant hoses back together or plumb in two manual shut off valves and simply close both valves during the summer.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003EIf your heat exchanger hasn\u0027t failed and wiped your transmission out yet, this is a Must for reliability and longevity of your transmission.\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cstrong\u003EFitment and Installation\u003C\/strong\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cul\u003E\u003Cli\u003EMounts to any 47\/48RE Transmission\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EThe two coolant lines that need to be run need to circulate.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EWe achieved the best circulation by running one line into the port that normally feeds the factory heat exchanger.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003E(1989-2002 trucks it\u0027s on the passenger side. 2003+ trucks it is on the driver side.)\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EThen we T\u0027d the other coolant line into the one heater core hose that goes up to the front of the engine under the alternator.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EAs for the transmission lines, you can run the factory ones if you would like but the fluid would still go through the factory heat exchanger, you can purchase our bypass transmission line kit if you don\u0027t already have it.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003Cli\u003EA cheaper option would be to jump the two factory hoses together.\u003C\/li\u003E\u003C\/ul\u003E\u003Cp\u003EAs for coolant lines, you will need our lower heater hose if you don\u0027t already have it or else when you disconnect the feed to the factory heat exchanger on the coolant side to run your hose to our pan, coolant will will come out of that hose you disconnected.
